DSA – JC

1. Introduction

2. Timeline

DSA – Junior College (JC)

The beginning of May indicates the start of the application process for the Direct School Admission (DSA) – JC process for our Secondary 4 students.

For those not in the know, the DSA – JC is a scheme that allows graduating secondary school students to apply for admission to their desired JC based on their talents and achievements (in 4 main categories: academic, leadership, performing arts, sports) separate to their O-Level results. Application has to take place before students sit for their O-level exams.

This annual exercise takes place from May – August for Phase 1 of applications and August – October for Phase 2. Students who are interested should visit their desired JC’s website and take note of start and end dates for the application process.

  • Note: Students who are interested in the exercise for Polytechnic schools would have to participate in the Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) instead. Students are allowed to apply for both admission exercises, but can only accept 1 offer

Timeline:

Early May (6th May, 2024 onwards)

  • Application Start Date
  • Visit relevant JC websites to check application start/end dates and eligibility criteria (Differing JCs may have different start/end dates)

Applicants should prepare to:

  • Decide on their area of application (Each applicant should only apply for ONE talent area, keep in mind that you cannot switch after submitting your application.)
  • Attach official results slips from the school (Sec 3/Sec 4)

How do I withdraw my DSA-JC acceptance?

To Note:

If you receive admission to a JC through DSA-JC, you will not be eligible to participate in the JAE and would have to commit to your chosen school for the entirety of the programme.

Students are encouraged to conduct thorough research on the various schools and courses available to them in order to make well-informed decisions. By taking the time to explore their options and gather relevant information, students can ensure that they choose a path that aligns with their interests, goals, and aspirations.
